How to Pull Off Lady Like Style Like a Pro

Styling Note: As far as style goes, I like to switch it up. I have read countless books about having a signature style, but I like too many of them for that to really work for me. Bohemian, business-chic, vintage, and romantic -- I want to dabble in them all. For this post, I tried out the Victorian trend that was so big last year. -- That's the other thing, I don't believe in style trends fading. If you like and enjoy them, wear them. Signature style in my opinion means owning whatever look you are currently slipping into.

This dress from Alice & You is one of my favorites. I have been meaning to get this look up for so long! I love that the tiered chiffon and the ruffled neck speak to the Victorian trend without being overwhelming. I am about ruffles as much as the next girl, but not at the expense of wearability. I wanted the Victorian nod to be a little more overt, so I also slipped on a vintage cameo ring. Because I like mixing styles, I am also wearing a pretty out there pair of cat eye shades. (They're from a brand called Poppy Apparel, which has great prices, but long lead times as it ships from China.) I completed the look with a small beaded clutch and blue velvet booties. You can read my thoughts about velvet here.  Ultra lady like style doesn't have to be stuffy or intimidating. You can take a trend and make it your own just like I am. What trends are you excited to try?

"Your head lies, full of fire.
 I'm risin' up, risin up,
My heart loves, full of fire,
 Love's full of fire, love.

 Baby if you wanna leave
Come to California, be a freak like me, too.
 Screw your anonymity.
Loving me is all you need to feel,
 Like I do.
We could slow dance to rock music,
 Kiss while we do it.
Talk till we both turn blue.
 Baby, if you wanna leave
Come to California, be a freak like me, too." Lana del Rey, Freak
